ABOUT US
Inquest Representation Service (IRS) provides legal services, relating to inquests, to members of the public, individuals, firms and organisations.
IRS is a collaboration between a number of specialist barristers and specialist solicitors who have worked in inquest law for many years. Our inquest law barristers are regulated by the Bar Standards Board of England and Wales (BSB), while our inquest law solicitors are regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) of England and Wales. Both types of lawyer also subscribe to the complaints scheme operated by the Legal Ombudsman Service of England and Wales. Our lawyers also carry professional indemnity insurance cover for work that they undertake, so as to ensure protection for the consumer.
Our lawyers undertake legal aid and privately funded work. For information on funding arrangements, see our funding representation page.
Inquest Representation Service’s specialist lawyers can advise on inquest law, admissibility of evidence and inquest procedure. Our lawyers can also represent any interested person at an inquest hearing and on applications to the High Court or for judicial review of inquest verdicts.
Our lawyers can advise and represent parties in relation to inquests held in England and Wales, even where a death has occurred outside of those countries. Our lawyers are experienced in representing the family of the bereaved, other individuals such as doctors and nurses, private businesses like care homes or larger public organisations.
Our inquest law legal team is led by our lead coronial law lawyer, barrister Mr Lee Gledhill.
