INQUEST REPRESENTATION
Inquest Representation typically includes legal advice about the inquisitorial process, advice on evidence and witnesses, correspondence with coroners and coroners’ officers, representation at inquest hearings, advice on appeal and judicial review, representation on appeal and at judicial review hearings.
Inquest Representation Service can provide written opinions on all aspects of inquest law, inquest procedure, inquest verdicts, and appeals from verdicts.
In some instances, clients are of the view that a coroner or jury came to an erroneous conclusion on the evidence or because relevant important evidence was absent. In some cases, long after an inquest new evidence may come to light thats casts doubt on the original verdict, and a client may wish to reopen the inquest.
Inquest Representation Service undertakes work funded on both a private fee paying basis and on a legal aid basis (subject to its availability).
Privately Paid Advice and Representation
We charge an element of hourly rates and fixed fees for work in inquest cases, depending on the nature of the work proposed. We usually provide advice for a fixed fee, initially, and then undertake work at an hourly rate thereafter.
We charge fixed fees for representation at inquest hearings and Pre Inquest Reviews. We usually charge a mix of fixed fees and hourly rates for judicial reviews and applications to reopen inquests.
We can usually give you an indication of fees once we see the initial paperwork. However, as all factual histories will differ we must often quote for each case as a case progresses.
Our hourly rates are generally £150 to £400 plus VAT. (Not all of our lawyers charge VAT.)
Fees will depend on the complexity of the case and the seniority of the lawyer that works with you. We only undertake work that is necessary in a given case. Our fees are competitive and we are covered by the Legal Ombudsman Service complaints process, and regulated by the Bar Standards Board (BSB). For more information about how we are regulated, follow the BSB link at the bottom of the page, in the footer.
